Monster Hunter 3 has several modes of play, first there is the offline single player mode which will have more of a story driven element to it. Co-op via split screen is available but is restricted to arena matches pitting you and a friend against monsters. Finally where most of the time will be spent is in the online co-op mode. Here up to 4 hunters will join up, complete quests, adventure together and trade items, communicating via the wiispeak accessory or keyboard. All of your progress for your hunter is carried over between modes.
